Daredevil Season 3 looks incredibly dark. No complaints here!
Daredevil was reasonably dark in season 1, and really dark in season 2. Now, with the first brooding glimpse at the forthcoming season 3, we can guess this installment is going to get downright pitch black.
When we last saw the Daredevil, or Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), it was in Defenders, where he almost died, and then went into the care of a group of nuns; who have obviously healed him in body, but maybe not in spirit?
Matt seems to have gotten a little twisted along the way. Everyone’s favorite blind badass do-gooder, who tries to not ever kill anyone, looks like he may be finally embracing lethal action?
In fact, you could say his world outlook has become truly sinister. If I was taking guesses as a bad guy in Hells Kitchen, I think it would probably be due time to leave. Matt and his Defenders buddies, and Frank Castle (Yeah, don’t be forgetting The Punisher), are not really the types of people you want to mess with.
This is the confession Matt makes in the teaser….
“I once believed that justice could be found in a court of law, and in the light of day. But I was fooling myself,” he says from the darkness of the booth. “Darkness only responds to darkness. And the thing is, I’d rather die as the Devil than live as Matt Murdock.”
Daredevil is a true fan favorite of those who dig the Marvel/Netflix combo. It went from being merely ok in the first season to ‘ball-tearing’ in the second. To see it take another jump upwards in regards to all-around quality would truly be heartening – especially after the last few Marvel/Netflix ventures really haven’t hit their mark.
We just binged Iron Fist 2, and it falls remarkably short. This follows in the wake of underwhelming second seasons of Luke Cage and Jessica Jones. Let’s hope that Daredevil 2 steps up where its peers haven’t.
