This week’s new movie trailers seem to be a little on the ‘lovey’ side. There’s not much gritty drama, blood, or in your face action movies to speak of.
Kurt Russell in a kids film, Fat chicks looking for love, Nicole Kidman in a ‘coming out’ drama, and a bit more on that tip too. Hopefully we get a few more people getting chopped up or eaten by rabid emu’s next week. Take a look anyway…
The film is based on a real-life story by Garrard Conley, from a book called A Memoir of Identity, Faith and Family. Boy Erased tells of the struggles a young man faces to find himself after his parents out him at the age of 19. The young man, a son of a Baptist pastor, is forced to question his identity when he is sent to a conversion therapy program or faces being excommunicated from the church and disownment by his family and friends. One of several movies out recently starring Nicole Kidman. Also stars Lucas Hedges, Joel Edgerton, Joe Alwyn, Xavier Dolan, Troye Sivan, Cherry Jones, Flea and Russell Crowe is set to premiere on November 16th, 2018.
Tyler Perry’s A Madea Family Funeral
This new movie trailer follows Madea (Tyler Perry), and her crew as they travel to backwoods Georgia for a family reunion to plan a funeral for a departed relative. The hilarious nightmare proves to be one that could uncover deep family secrets about the departed, and the family as a whole. The film stars Courtney Burrell, Patrice Lovely, Cassi Davis, Ciera Payton among others. The film opens in theatres on 1st March 2019.
Isn’t It Romantic
Isn’t It Romantic revolves around the life of Natalie, a woman who is cynical when it comes to love. Her talents in her architectural firm are being overlooked and undermined and feel invisible. That is until one day a mugger tries to steal her purse, and she ends up bumping her head leaving her unconscious. When she wakes up, she soon discovers that she is living in a romantic comedy with her as the leading lady. The film stars Rebel Wilson ( In similar movies: How to Be Single, the Pitch Perfect films), Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games films), Adam Devine (The Intern, the Pitch Perfect films) and Priyanka Chopra (Quantico, Baywatch). This is about the pick of this week’s new movie trailers, and the film is set to open in theatres on Valentine’s Day 2019.
Spies In Disguise
This is an animated comedy set following Lance Sterling (Will Smith), a talented, charismatic superspy and a smart, nerdy scientist Walter Beckett (Tom Holland). The two are an odd pairing as Lance is crisp and smooth while Walter is socially awkward but intelligent. Walter makes cool gadgets that are used for missions that Lance uses on the field. They must, however, rely on each other’s strengths when faced with a new challenge in the high-octane globe-trotting world of international espionage. The film also stars Rashida Jones, Karen Gillan, and Dj Khaled and premiers 13th September 2019.
The Christmas Chronicles
A little girl Kate (Darby Camp) and her older brother Teddy Pierce (Judah Lewis) attempt to get an image of Santa Clause. Kate believes in Santa unlike Teddy who is older and mostly frustrated. They accidentally see Santa during a stakeout and wanting to get a closer shot, they sneak into his sleigh, causing it to crash and almost jeopardizing Christmas. They go on an epic adventure with Santa (Kurt Russell) and must work with his loyal elves to save Christmas before day breaks. Not going to top the list of my fave KR movies, that’s for certain. The film also stars Oliver Hudson, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, Lamorne Morris and Tom Kane and premiers on 22nd November 2018.
Harley Altmeyer (Alex Pettyfer), a young man, is forced to take care of his three younger sisters after their mother is sent to jail after the shooting of their abusive father. He quits college and starts working odd jobs, and that’s when he meets a mother of two, Callie (Jennifer Morrison) and has an illicit affair with her. Things get worse when he becomes the lead suspect in a local murder mystery. Family secrets and unspoken truths threaten to destroy him, and he must face the facts. Starring Juliette Lewis, Robert Longstreet, Nicola Peltz, Danika Yarosh, and Robert Patrick. The only really gritty film in this week’s new movie trailers, and the film will open on theatres and Digital on 7th December 2018.
The Princess Switch
The film follows Stacey, a Chicago baker, who goes to Belgravia for a baking competition and meets Margaret, the Duchess of Monetenaro. Margaret convinces Stacy to switch lives for two days as she wants to experience life as an average person before getting married. Stacy cuts her hair and adopts a British accent to fit in. They, however, fall in love with each other’s beaus and those close to them begin to notice their sporadic changes. Not really our fave amongst this week’s new movie trailers, but the film stars hottie Vanessa Hudgens as both girls (so this is some consolation). It also stars am Palladio, Suanne Braun, and Mark Fleischmann and this movie starts streaming on Netflix on November 16th, 2018.
Five Feet Apart
Stella Grant (Haley Lu Richardson) spends most of her time in the hospital as a cystic fibrosis patient following rules, routines, and boundaries as any bacterial infection could kill her she talks to her friends regularly on her laptop and she is content until she meets a fellow CF patient Will Newman (Cole Sprouse). Will doesn’t care about his treatment and continually refuses to take it, but Stella convinces him to want to live. Their attraction is however not possible as they must keep a safe distance between them as they fight together to live. The film also stars Claire Forlani, Parminder Nagra, Moises Arias, Emily Baldoni, Gary Weeks and Kimberly Herbert Gregory. The film premiers in theatres on 22nd March 2019.
