This week’s new movie trailers are filled with new shows ready to launch – from a big-budget Marvel CGI fest to the next offering of a seriously creepy TV movie horror anthology.
The new movie trailers we’ve compiled have yielded much better this week than last, with the crazy season officially beginning, and some films that you actually might want to see on the list. Here are all the half-decent movies we’ve found this week – stacked with blockbusters. Check all the teaser trailers out…
Captain Marvel is the story of Carol Danvers, a U.S. Air Force Officer who becomes the superhero Captain Marvel. On Earth, Carol is a hot-shot pilot, but when she’s flung deep into space, she joins Starforce, an elite military force of the alien Kree empire. The Kree were first seen in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy via Ronan the Accuser, a Kree extremist.
In the process of joining Starforce, Carol Danvers’ biology melds with Kree DNA, effectively turning her into a hybrid. She loses her memory, and Captain Marvel will partially be about Carol rediscovering her human heritage. The trailer looks good, whether the movie cuts it is another story.
Captain Marvel will be released in theatres on March 8th, 2019.
Into the Dark: Pooka
Into the Dark is an American horror anthology web television series that premiered on October 5, 2018, on Hulu. The series consists of twelve episodes, each released a month apart, that center on a holiday found in the month they are released, and the TV trailer for this one looks scary.
When the TV trailer for Into The Dark: Pooka begins, we can see that Wilson (Nyahsa Hatendi) is a struggling actor searching for work. He sees an ad on a bulletin board for an acting job. The audience can’t see what the gig is for but we all know that it’ll inevitably lead to Pooka.
What happens from then on is anyone’s guess – but we are guessing it is going to be bloody. The TV trailer has a Donnie Darko crossed with Child’s Play vibe happening.
Into the Dark is exclusive to Hulu, and will premiere on Dec 7th 2018.
The live-action adaptation of the big-eared flying elephant will star Eva Green, Michael Keaton and Colin Farrell, and be directed by Tim Burton. In the second trailer for the remake, Dumbo is separated from his mum at the circus, and two children must fight to reunite them by showing off Dumbo’s flying capabilities.
Due for release on March 29th 2019.
The film is an adaptation of the 2011 French film called The Intouchables. Kevin Hart plays Dell, an ex-convict who is incessantly looking for a job, his prayers are answered when he lands the well-paid gig of caring for a quadriplegic billionaire Philip, played by Bryan Cranston. Nicole Kidman plays Cranston’s assistant; she immediately thinks that Hart is unfit to comply with the job’s requirements, however, the ex-con and the billionaire form an unlikely friendship. The trailer shows comedic scenes including one where Dell tries to pick out a new girlfriend for his new billionaire boss but also shows the more serious and heart-warming side of the film. Hart is trying to reconnect and be able to see his son after his prison time, and Cranston has his issues about his physical situation.
The film is set to premiere in theaters on January 11th 2019, and this is the third of the teaser trailers launched.
The film is about six strangers who find themselves in a situation they find hard to untangle themselves from. The strangers find themselves thrown into an intricate and hi-tech version of the escape room game – one that has dire stakes. Fear, Paranoia, Suspicion, desperation tugs at them and describes what happens when the six strangers start to buckle under the pressure of their situation. The main cast includes Taylor Russell (Lost In Space), Logan Miller (The Walking Dead), Deborah Ann Woll (Daredevil), Jay Ellis (Insecure), Tyler Labine (Voltron), Nik Dodani (Murphy Brown), and Yorick van Wageningen (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo).
Escape Room will be in theaters on January 4th 2019.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix
X-MEN sequel Dark Phoenix starring Game of Thrones’ Sophie Turner hot, just revealed the first full-length teaser trailer, and it is “epic and mysterious.”
The entire main X-Men: First Class cast will return: James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, and Nicholas Hoult as Beast! The main “young mutants” introduced in X-Men: Apocalypse are also back: Sophie Turner hot as the titular Jean Grey/Phoenix, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, and Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler.
After the team is dispatched to space for a rescue mission, a solar flare hits the X-Jet and the surge of energy ignites a malevolent, power-hungry new force within Jean – played by Game of Thrones’ Sophie Turner hot – the Phoenix. While Jean is both the hero and villain, Dark Phoenix also introduces an other-worldly (and for now, top secret) shape-shifter (Jessica Chastain), who attempts to manipulate Phoenix for her own agenda.
The movie was originally supposed to be released in November 2018. However, the release date was pushed back to February 5th 2019. It’s the twelfth film in the X-Men series, and one of dozens of new movie trailers already launched.
Aviron Pictures has released the first trailer for the upcoming film After. Based on the romance novel of the same name by author Anna Todd—which was initially published on the website Wattpad before getting a print edition—the story follows a dedicated college student named Tessa (Josephine Langford) whose guarded world opens up when she meets the dark and mysterious Hardin Scott (Hero Fiennes Tiffin).
The movie After follows Tessa (Langford), a dedicated student, dutiful daughter and loyal girlfriend to her high school sweetheart, as she enters her first semester in college. Armed with grand ambitions for her future, her guarded world opens up when she meets the dark and mysterious Hardin Scott (Tiffin), a magnetic, brooding rebel who makes her question all she thought she knew about herself and what she wants out of life.
It was scripted by Susan McMartin and directed by Jenny Gage, After opens in theaters on April 12th 2019.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters
Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown is seen in the center of the action at the beginning of the clip as a city falls around her. As the trailer heats up, we get glimpses at more than just Godzilla, including King Ghidorah, the insect Mothra, and the winged beast Rodan.
King of the Monsters is the sequel to the Gareth Edwards-directed Godzilla movie released in 2014. It initially seemed like a standalone movie, until the post-credits scene on King Kong: Skull Island burst open the doors for an entire cinematic universe of rebooted larger-than-life monsters.
The new movie trailers for this have been exceptionally promising. The film is directed by Michael Dougherty, and is expected to hit the theatres on May 31st, 2019.
