Tom Hiddleston, the actor behind Marvel’s Loki character, has confirmed that he is involved as the lead in a new Disney+ TV series.
Disney’s upcoming streaming service, known as Disney+, is already shaping up to be serious competition for streaming juggernauts, Netflix and Hulu. In addition to plans to produce a live-action Star Wars series, a limited series based on Loki, starring Tom Hiddleston, has been also confirmed per a press release, posted on Wednesday.
Chairman and CEO of Disney, Bob Iger, today confirmed that: “Disney+ is assembling a live-action series centered around a fan-favorite character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Loki, the god of mischief, to star Tom Hiddleston.”

The Loki actor wasn’t just trying to garner attention for another iteration of the beloved character, confirmation came soon after that he would actually be reprising his ‘Loki’ role, this time as the lead, and on episodic TV.
Of course, this leads one to question just how the series will play out? Whether or not you actually made it to the theater to see Avengers: Infinity War, it’s likely that you know Thanos (Josh Brolin) killed several of the Avengers, Loki included.
A Loki TV series means that he could be brought back from the dead (he’s done it before, after all). The series timeline hasn’t been revealed, but there is a possibility it could be set before Infinity War. Time will tell.
Loki’s new TV series will be in good company, as Disney + also has series’ based within on Monster’s Inc, High School Musical and The Mandalorian.
Disney’s streaming service will roll out fully in 2019. In the meantime, you can sign up with your email address, in order to receive updates.
